Educational Sites

Here are some interesting sites about Language Arts and Early Childhood Education. I've provided some sites with games and activities. Other sites are about the common core and curriculum.

Language Arts:

This shows the core standards for Language Arts for Kindergarten through grade 12. The ELA core lays out standards, or goals, that teachers should work towards in their classrooms.  The ELA core also has subheadings about reading, language, speaking and listening, and language. It also includes literacy in other core subjects like history, technology, and science.

Funbrain provides games related to reading and grammar. The site even provides books for students to read online (for different reading levels too). There is also a Mad Libs section for students to make up their own stories.

This site provides various reading games for students to do. There are games about typing, writing sentences, and forming words. There are also fun, role-playing games like Dragon Academy and Academy Island. Many of the games bring reading and writing together with fun, engaging tasks.

This site shares different types of Language Arts games students can complete. On this main Language Arts page, there are sub-sections like: ABC's, Spelling, Poetry, Rhyming and Punctuation. Clicking on each of these sub-sections takes you to games specifically related to the topic.

On this site, there are many quizzes and worksheets available for students to use. Topics range from grammar to vocabulary to reading. This is a great site for students to use if they want to review on a certain topic they're unsure about or if they want more practice for a test.

Early Childhood Education:

Teachers should check out this site if they're looking for ideas about activities and curriculum. There is a page about tips and strategies for teachers to use in a younger classroom. This site is also a great source for teachers, and even parents, to explore if they want to know about Early Childhood Education.

This site is also geared toward teachers wishing to know more about Early Childhood learning. The site provides activities teachers can use in their classroom. The site also shows learning activities by age. There are also a few articles teachers can read.

Making Learning Fun is a site that teachers, parents, and students can go to. This site provides printable activities for student to do. There are crafts, coloring, and printable activities about animals and holidays. The activities are also sorted by theme to make for an easier search.

This site provides different Early Childhood activities. There are different themes on the site like shapes and letters. Pictures are shown on the site, but teachers have to purchase the package in order to fully use this resource.

This inviting site is a fun place for younger children to learn online. The site divides the activities and learning by age (i.e. toddlers). There are games, presentations, coloring pages, and songs for children to explore. This site is colorful and fun and will definitely have children engaged.
